Soldier arraigned for allegedly raping AAUA undergraduate

A soldier of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Sunday Awolola, who allegedly accused of raping a 300-level student of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko (AAUA) in Ondo State, was arraigned at the Magistrate Court sitting in Akure.

The Nigeria soldier who is 33-year-old Awolola is charged for committing rape which is contrary to section 357 and punishable under section 358 of the criminal code cap 37 vol. Laws of Ondo state.

According to the victim, she said Awolola allegedly raped her at a military checkpoint along Ikare Akoko-Akungba Akoko road on July 31, 2019. The student family says that they are going to make sure the soldier pay for his sins.

It very bad for a uniform man to commit such an act, the soldier is supposed to protect life and property not the other way round.

The police, Army, Navy custom and uniform agency should do a proper check and training so that they can fish out the bad head in the force.

The magistrate, Mr. Mayowa Olanipekun, adjourned the matter till Friday, August 16, 2019.
